The Old Plough is a family owned and run business and we have suceeded and developed because we care about quality and service. Your hosts Rob and Jane Ward have been at the Old Plough since 1993.

The atmosphere at the Old Plough is that of a country pub of days gone by, tastefully decorated yet having the ambience of your own front room. We are a family business and our aim is to exceed your expectations in every way.

Quality food and a unique atmosphere are the key to success at the Old Plough.

When you step inside the front door, close your eyes, open them, then blink to reassure yourself that it is true... ..for you are transported both in time and surroundings. From the bustle of the busy city centre that surrounds the Old Plough, you are transported to a cosy little country inn, reminiscent of days gone by.

Our Dinner menu features a range of mouth watering scrumptious fillet steaks served with classic sauces as well something for the more adventurous. Whether you choose the 'DRUNKEN BULLOCK' - a fillet steak served with Rob's inimitable home made rich ruby port and Napoleon brandy sauce or may be you will be tempted be the delicious 'HARTINGTON DOUBLE DEKKA' topped with mature blue Stilton.

We also offer a wide choice of Sirloin and rump steaks, chicken, pasta and vegetarian dishes - all served with a choice of our famous hand cut fresh chips, new potatoes, American style hash browns or boiled long grain rice. We also include crispy batter onion rings, garden peas and mushrooms.

Our Famous hot sandwiches and home made pies with fresh hand-cut chips are always available at lunchtimes and have been the mainstay of the menu for many years - for a real treat - try one of our extra special sandwiches - the New Yorker or Open Steak sandwich are a real favorite. We also serve a range of cold sandwiches made to order served on granary or white bread.
